Sup race boards are designed for one thing, speed. Many of the boards vary in style, shape and specialty, but 90% will come in 2 sizes, which are dictated by the majority of the race divisions. They are 12'6" and 14'. For the most part, any size/experience can ride either board. A blanket recommendation from legends is that if you are over 200 pounds, get on a 14' board. If you are under 170 pounds, go with a 12'6". If you are in between, go with your preference. Typically if you are in the ocean, you would want to go with a 14' because of its superior ability to ride swells.
